Setting up your WIFI and SSH without connecting your Raspberry Pi to a monitor.

Post by bbzrta »

The best way to connect to your Raspberry Pi is through SSH(Secure Shell), but it cannot be done unless you manually enable the SSH and connect to WIFI with your Pi connected to the monitor.
there is a much easier way to connect your Pi to your wifi and enable its SSH without needing a monitor.

all you need is your SD card, a card reader and a PC.

Connecting the Pi to your WiFi:
Step 1: Open notepad and type the following command in..

Code: Select all

ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
update_config=1
country=UK
network={
 ssid="my-ssid"
 psk="my-network-password"
 key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
}
Remmeber for Country you should use the two letters for your own country!

Step 2: Save your file as wpa_supplicant.conf (Pay attention to the extension! it must be .conf)

Enabling SSH:
This is an easy one all you have to do is to make open notepad and save it without any extension. for doing so you need to type the filename like following...

as you can see the filename is placed in quotation marks which stops your computer from giving it an extension.
now just drag and drop the file in your SD card in the root directory(meaning not in any folder).

Thanks for your time.
